BJP to organise symbolic marathon races against corruption

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit upon a new idea to attract crowds as part of its nationwide “people’s agitation” against the “corruption and misrule” of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. The party has decided to organise marathon races against corruption.

BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who Wednesday announced a nationwide programme of people’s struggle by the party against the UPA government from April 6 to June 15, said that symbolic marathons will be held against corruption with involvement of people.

The BJP intends to organise public meetings in almost all districts of the country during its nationwide agitation on the issues of “corruption, inaction on black money and misrule”.

Gadkari said plays, marches and sms campaigns will be held to reach out to people. He said several ideas to convey the party’s message among people were thrown up at the meeting of national office-bearers and state unit presidents held Wednesday.

The party also will speak about its dissatisfaction with the prime minister’s statement over his role in appointment of P.J. Thomas as Chief Vigilance Commissioner. The appointment of Thomas has been struck down by the Supreme Court.
