New Delhi : A man who raped a nine-year-old girl in south Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar area has been arrested, police said Friday.
Mohan Ram, 23, was arrested Thursday from Pilanji village near Sarojini Nagar where he has been staying with his aunt for the last few weeks. He worked as a daily wage labourer.
“The victim was a class five student in N.P. Primary School in Sarojini Nagar. Her brother and sister were also studying in the same school. She was on her way to pick them up when the incident happened Wednesday,” a police official said.
Ram had promised the victim five rupees if she could fetch his ball from the nearby bushes. He took the girl to a nearby water pump house and raped her. A medical examination conducted at Safdarjung Hospital confirmed it, said police.
