Bangladesh’s upset win is their second against England in 15 ODIs

Chittagong: Bangladesh’s two-wicket win against England in a World Group B match Friday was their second in 15 One-day Internationals played between the two teams.

The other highlights:

Bangladesh (227 for eight) have registered their highest successful chase at the world cup – their first total of 200 or more in a successful chase.

Imrul Kayes has been adjudged the MOM for the first time in ODIs.

Eoin Morgan (63 off 72 balls) has recorded his first world cup fifty – his eleventh in ODIs.

Andrew Strauss (610 at an average of 87.14 in eight games) has performed exceptionally well against Bangladesh, extending his runs’ tally.

Naeem Islam (2/29) has registered his best world cup performance.

Ajmal Shahzad (3/43) has registered his career-best bowling performance in ODIs/World Cup.

Shafiul Islam (24 not out) has posted his career-best innings in ODIs.

Shafiul and Mahmudullah have added 58 (unbroken) for the ninth wicket – Bangladesh’s highest at the world cup,

Andrew Strauss has eclipsed Tillakaratne Dilshan’s tally of 283 in five matches in the present tournament. He is now the top run-scorer at the world cup 2011, aggregating 298 at an average of 59.60, including one century and one fifty, in five games.

Jonathan Trott has taken his runs’ tally to 289 at an average of 57.80, including four fifties, in five matches – the second best in the present edition of the world cup, next only to the 298 by Andrew Strauss.

Trott is the first batsman to post four fifties at the 2011 edition of the world cup.

Trott is the fourth English batsman to register four fifty-plus innings in a single edition of the World Cup, joining Kevin Pietersen (five in 2007), Graeme Fowler (1983) and Graham Gooch (1987).

England (225) have recorded their highest score at the world cup against Bangladesh.

Imrul and Tamim Iqbal have posted Bangladesh’s highest first wicket partnership (52) against England at the world cup.

Imrul and Shakib have added 82 – Bangladesh’s highest for the fourth wicket against England in ODIs,

The 82-run stand is Bangladesh’s second highest for the fourth wicket at the world cup, behind 84 between Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan against India at Port of Spain on March 17,2007.

Imrul, in the course of his fifty, has completed his 1,000 runs in ODIs, aggregating 1005 at an average of 29.55, including one century and seven fifties.

Imrul’s splendid 60 off 100 balls is his highest innings at the world cup, surpassing the 34 against India at Dhaka on Feb 19, 2011.
