New Delhi: A Congress MP from Jamnagar in Gujarat has filed a complaint against a representative of a Delhi-based property firm for allegedly duping farmers in his constituency and threatening him, police said Monday.
“A written complaint has been filed by Vikrambhai Arjanbhai, MP from Jamnagar, against representatives of a company which was acquiring lands in his constituency without paying proper compensation to farmers. The MP claimed that he was threatened by the company,” said a senior police official.
The MP, who stays in South Avenue while in Delhi, filed a complaint in Chanakyapuri police station March 10.
“The MP has alleged that he was offered kickbacks. When he refused to accept any offer, he was threatened by the company’s officials. We are probing into the matter,” the official added.
The complaint was against an agency laying underground pipelines in Arjanbhai’s constituency after it acquired lands from farmers allegedly without paying them proper compensation.
