Sarah Palin to address annual conclave Saturday

New Delhi : In her first major foreign trip in three years, former US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be in India this weekend to deliver a keynote address at an annual conclave, a release said here Wednesday.

“I’m very excited to visit India. Americans have a great respect for the world’s largest democracy,” Palin was quoted as saying in the release issued by the India Today group.

Palin will be visiting India on the invitation of the India Today group, which is organising a two day conclave March 18-19. She will be accompanied by her husband Todd Palin.

“India and the United States are partners in trade and business affairs, and working together, our two nations can build a more peaceful and prosperous world,” she said.

She will be delivering the keynote address on March 19 on the theme of “My vision of America”.

Palin had been the first female governor of the US state of Alaska from 2006 to 2009. She was the running mate for John McCain on the Republican ticket during the 2008 presidential election.

There has been much speculation in recent months that Palin may run to become the Republican nominee in the 2012 presidential elections.

In her previous campaign, she had been much criticised for her lack of experience on the foreign policy front. Palin had in fact first acquired her passport only in 2007 for her visit to meet troops at Kuwait and Germany.
