Lucknow: Eminent Shia cleric and Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi on Thursday gave a call for protest against the onslaught of Saudi Arabian forces in Bahrain. Demanding a pull out of Arabian forces from strife torn Bahrain, the cleric urged the UN agencies to interfere and impose restrictions on the Saudi Arabian government.
Jawwad stated that he will lead the protest after Friday prayers from Asafi Masjid in Lucknow. “The Saudi Arabian forces are killing innocent civilians in Bahrain who are engaged in a rightful protest for restoration of democracy. I appeal for holding such protest in other parts of the country,” he said while interacting with newsmen on Thursday.

The Shia cleric remained highly critical of Saudi Arabian government terming it as a stooge of US. He claimed that things have gone worst after the visit of US foreign minister in Bahrain. “The people at Bahrain are demonstration in a peaceful manner in the capital city Manama. They are being killed by spraying bullets from helicopters and use of poisonous gases. The people’s uprising is for restoration of democracy which is justified. Those sitting at the helm of affairs should read the writing on the wall and pave way for democracy,” he said.
Jawwad also warned that if the Saudia Arabian government doesn’t not pull back its forces from Bahrain, a large protest will be held in New Delhi. He however denied that it is a Shia-Sunni conflict in the region. “Those who are getting killed include both Shias and Sunnis. If the rights of the people are throttled they will rise up as in Librya, Yemen and Egypt. There is no demarcation on sectarian lines,” he added.
