Kolkata : West Bengal Finance Secretary C.M. Bachawat Friday certified that no order from any file signed by state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupata violating the model code of conduct would be executed, an election official said.
“The state finance secretary, as instructed by the Election Commission, has given a written declaration that no order from any file, signed by Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta after the notification of assembly polls dated March 1, violating the model code of conduct, will be executed,” state Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said.
The written declaration comes three days after the Election Commission instructed the state finance secretary on this matter.
After the model code of conduct came into effect March 1, Dasgupta signed hundreds of files and on the basis of a complaint by Trinamool Congress, the Election Commission ordered an enquiry and submitted a report within seven days.
