New Delhi : Four thieves of vehicles were arrested in separate incidents in the national capital, police said Friday.
Shakeel Ahmad, 28, and Guddan, 26, were arrested while they were driving a stolen motorcycle near Malviya Nagar Wednesday. They were stopped by the police for routine checking.
Deputy Commissioner of Police H.G.S. Dhaliwal said, “They were arrested with the help of an auto-match technology which tells whether a vehicle is stolen or not after the details of vehicle are sent through an SMS to a helpline number.”
Shakeel Ahmad and Guddan stole motorcycles in the city using master keys, used them for a few days and sold them to Saleem Kabari in Seema Puri.
“Efforts are on to nab Saleem Kabari,” added Dhaliwal.
“In another incident, Ajay, 21, and Satish Kumar, 26, were arrested also from Malviya Nagar area while they were on way to dispose of a stolen motorcycle,” said Dhaliwal.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Satish Kumar was the head of a gang involved in vehicle thefts. Ajay has a motorcycle repair shop in Jaitpur where stolen vehicles were dismantled and disposed off, the officer said.
Police said that Satish Kumar is from Muzaffar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh and earlier worked as a Blueline bus driver.
