Stalin files nomination, owns assets worth over Rs.1 crore

    Chennai: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Monday filed his nomination for contesting in the Kolathur assembly constituency here, declaring assets worth over Rs.1 crore.

    Speaking to reporters after filing the nomination, Stalin said he decided to contest in Kolathur bowing to the suggestions made by the party leadership.

    He said the prospects for the DMK front are bright not only in Kolathur but in all the 234 constituencies in the state.

    According to Stalin, Tamil Nadu people voted for the DMK in 2006 “based on our manifesto and we fulfilled the promises made then”.

    “Similarly, this time around people will vote for us based on our manifesto.”

    As per the affidavit filed by him, Stalin has a movable assets worth around Rs.19 lakh and immovable property worth around Rs.92 lakh. He owes a debt of Rs.70,000.

    Stalin’s income for the year 2009-10 was Rs.5,08,630 and had filed an income tax return of Rs.5,08,630.

    On the other hand, his wife Durgavathi Stalin movable assets are worth around Rs.23 lakh and immovable assets are worth around Rs.76 lakh. Her income for the year 2009-10 was Rs.2,15,440.
