New Delhi : Budget carrier SpiceJet Thursday said that a suspended women pilot, who was being probed for acquiring her flying license through fraudulent means, has resigned from the company.
“Garima Passi had been suspended from flying while we awaited full investigations to be concluded. This morning she has resigned from her job,” the airline said in a statement.
The 24-year-old pilot with the low-cost carrier was grounded on March 16, after aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) started an investigation to look into any fraudulent means with which she acquired the commercial pilots license (CPL).
An official with the DGCA, who did not wished to be named, said that there was evidence to suggest that Passi used fraudulent means to acquire her CPL.
Earlier, SpiceJet sacked two of its pilots, after they were arrested by Rajasthan’s anti-corruption bureau for allegedly bribing and using illegal means for acquiring the flying license.
Another allegation dogging Passi is that she has taken undue advantage of the position of her father – a top DGCA official – to acquire her CPL.
