Hyderabad : The 20th edition of the International World Wide Web (www) conference began here Monday.
About 700 delegates from 50 countries are attending the five-day research oriented conference organised jointly by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Bangalore, in cooperation with the IIIT, Hyderabad and the Institute of Information Technology-Bombay.
The conference with the theme “Web for All” has brought together different stakeholders – research, practitioners, technologists, business and standards bodies for sharing of ideas.
“We are excited to bring the conference to India, and to this beautiful city of Hyderabad,” Mary Ellen Zurko, Lotus live security architect at IBM, told reporters.
S. Sadagopan, director of IIIT, Bangalore, said 70 research papers would be presented during the conference. The papers were selected from 700 papers received from across the world.
The conference is focusing on new developments in the principles and practices related to www, including e-medicine, e-governance, agriculture, traffic management, route finding, citizenship services, security and education.
Former president of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will formally inaugurate the conference Wednesday.
The www conference director and inventor of the web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, will deliver the keynote address on “designing the web for an open society”.
