Kozhikode: T Arifali was again selected as the Amir of Jamat e Islami Kerala for the term 2011-2015. National Amir Jalaludheen Ansar Umari appointed Mr Arifali as the state Amir after collecting the opinion of members of the organisation and the state council. Mr Arifali is presently a member of the national Majlis Shura also of the JIH.
Native of Vazhakkad in Malappuram district, Arifali came to the JIH through the Students Islamic Organisation, of which he became the state president twice. He completed his education from the Ilahiya College, Tirurkkad in Malappuram and the King Saud University, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. He has a wife and four children.

This is the third term for Mr Arifali as Kerala Amir. The activities of the Jamat were extended to a vast level when he was the Amir, most noted of which is the formation of the Solidarity Youth Movement. The Solidarity involves in and leads various protests and campaigns in the state, such as the anti-endosulphan struggle in Kasargod, protest against the eviction of people from Moolampilli in Ernakulam, etc.
