Founder working president of AIUDF resigns

By TCN Staff Reporter,

Guwahati: Founder working president of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury resigned from the party on Saturday. Earlier on April 26, he was suspended by party president Badruddin Ajmal on charges of ‘anti party activity’.

Hafiz Rashid Choudhury informed TCN over telephone that he was unsatisfied with the ‘style of functioning’ by the party. He alleged that the party has deviated from its cause and has alienated itself from its original ideologies. ‘Official stand of AIUDF is anti–congress and anti-BJP, but now the party announced that they are open to any coalition barring BJP’, said Haifz Rashid.

He also mentioned that he was sidelined because of his stand on the issue of coalition and was having some kind of disappointment among the party workers for quite some time. Party didn’t serve a show cause notice to him and his suspension has lowered his image as founder member of the party, he wrote in his three page resignation letter to Ajmal.

Haidur Hussain, General Secretary of AIUDF informed that the executive body has accepted his resignation and there is no question of serving a show cause notice as he resigned himself. It has been also decided that Ajmal will decide for the party on the issue of coalition with other parties and party leader Dr Aditya Langthasa has been given the responsibility of holding discussion with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders on the issue of coalition.

The party will decide after May 13 as to whom to extend support provided they respect AIUDF’s main demands.
