Aligarh: Taking a strict action against the students who were allegedly involved in clashes and firing between two groups last month at the campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis has ordered to place 38 students under suspension from the rolls of the university with immediate effect pending enquiry.

He also ordered to place university campus and its maintained institutions out of bond for them.

He also made it clear that those who are not on the rolls of the University but were involved in the incidence of group clashes and firing in the University premises and outside causing the closure of the University sine-die on April 30, are to be subjected to appropriate legal action as per the law of the land.

The disciplinary action has been taken in view of the facts and circumstances prima facie established. These 38 students have reportedly committed acts of misconduct and indiscipline as provided under AMU Students’ Conduct and Discipline Rules 1985.

On the other hand, Prof. P.K. Abdul Aziz also appealed to the AMU Teachers’ Association (AMUTA) that they should extend full cooperation and more positive partnership to bring normalcy at the campus as their support is extremely essential to maintain peaceful and tranquil atmosphere so that the University may be able to conduct all the entrance tests and examinations without any disruption.
