Donald all set to sign new contract with New Zealand

By IANS,

Christchurch : South African pace legend Allan Donald is all set to sign a fresh contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) as bowling coach.

Donald had delayed signing a new contract with NZC since he was one of the front-runners for Cricket Australia’s bowling coach. He was also interviewed this week but finally was pipped by Australian Craig McDermott for the post.

A NZC spokesman said that the board is still finalising the details with Donald.

“As far as we were concerned it was always progressing reasonably positively. We haven’t really adjusted anything that we’ve been doing. It’s things like immigration and amounts, all those sorts of details we’re just working through at the moment. We’re not going to be making an announcement in the next couple of days until all those things are signed off,” the spokesman was quoted as saying by Stuff.co.nz.

NZC’s new director of cricket, John Buchanan, had also hinted that the board is keen on retaining Donald, who played a crucial role in New Zealand’s run till the World Cup semi-finals. New Zealand coach John Wright also wants Donald to stay on.
