London : The killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by US special forces in a top secret mission in Pakistan has inspired a range of action movies, including one being made by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow.
Bigelow, who won an Oscar for her Iraq war film “The Hurt Locker”, was already working on a project titled “Kill Bin Laden” even as his mansion in Pakistan’s Abbottabad city was stormed May 2.
The movie, written by scriptwriter Mark Boal, is about a fictitious failed assassination attempt on the Al Qaeda founder, the Daily Express reported.
A source close to Annapurna Pictures, the studio behind the project, said: “We’re turning the script around as fast as possible and are well placed to be first on screen with our account of a truly historic mission.”
Paramount Pictures, HBO and Showtime are also reportedly planning to make films on the Osama mission.
