Azamgarh holds seminar on food adulteration

Azamgarh: District Science Club, Azamgarh organized a Seminar on “Food Adulteration” in Central Public School (CPS), Jafarpur, Azamgarh. Students competed through Scientific Lectures, short drama, demonstrations for detecting adulterated food.

Mr. Abhai Kumar Singh, Chief Food Inspector, Azamgarh and Mr. Santosh Kumar Sahu, Food Inspector for Azamgarh commissionery were the guests of honour. After welcome address by Ms. Srivastava, Principal of Central Public School, students delivered speech on food adulteration, its consequences, law against food adulteration etc.


Playing short drama

A short drama to show unethical practices, through adulteration of food articles, by a shopkeeper was presented by students. The theme of the drama “Greed ultimately affecting the Greedy” had an effect on the audience when they witnessed children of shopkeeper suffering from food poisoning through accidental use of adulterated food meant for unsuspecting consumers.

Demonstrations to detect adulterated food articles through physical and chemical testing by students reflected able guidance of the teachers (mainly Chemistry).

CPS students patiently listened to short speeches (in the hot weather) by Mr. Ayaz Khan, Manager, CPS, Dr. Salman Sultan, Mr. Abhai Kumar Singh, Mr. Santosh Kumar Sahu and Mr. Vishal Bharti. Mr. Vishal suggested quick testing lab in every kitchen and pointed out the greater danger of adulteration in comparison to terrorism.

Ms. Rekha, Vice Principal, CPS, conducted the proceedings and Mr. Amir Jamal Khan, Coordinator, District Science Club thanked the guests and students.
