Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) : Five members of a jeweller’s family, including two minors, were killed by unidentified assailants in this Uttar Pradesh town Friday, police said.
Pradeep Sehgal, his father Ramesh Sehgal, his wife Preeti and the couple’s two children – Krishna and Basu – were found murdered inside their house in Janakpuri area.
“We are yet to identify the assailants and ascertain the exact reason behind the killings,” police inspector Omveer Singh Sirohi told reporters in Saharanpur, some 500 km from Lucknow.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the five were attacked with some blunt and heavy object. All of them bear injuries on their heads,” he added.
According to police, the killings were detected in the afternoon when the Sehgals’ neighbours approached them after no one in the house responded to the door bells and telephone calls.
