Welfare Party not an experiment for short-term political goal: Mujtaba

Jaipur: “The Welfare Party of India is not just a political party, rather it is a movement to reform politics in India and to bring into reality the idea of a welfare state based on moral values,” said Mujtaba Farooq, president of the newly formed political party, addressing the press on his visit to the Rajasthan capital on Tuesday.

“Welfare Party is not an experiment for a short-term political goal but it is a long mission to present the country an alternative politics,” said Farooq who is also political affairs secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Welfare Party of India (WPI) is said to be the political front of the Islamist organization.

Mujtaba Farooq further said: People today have lost hope in present political parties and they want a change. Our party will work for the rights of Dalits, minorities, weaker sections and all deprived classes. The party will stand with those who face injustice and atrocities irrespective of their caste and creed.

To a question he said: “We are not against development but we want that it should be balanced and beneficiary for all.”

He informed that Rajasthan unit of WPI has not been formally launched but process has been started in this regard and he expressed hope that by the end of July all formalities will be completed.

Farooq also said that WPI will field candidates in the coming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and will also take part in the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh and other states.
