On security alert, UK puts community officer at indian takeaway

By IANS,

London: A community support officer – and not a security personnel – was put on duty at an Indian takeaway in Britain after the police were put on alert following the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, a media report said Tuesday.

The Sun reported that the action came after the force was informed that there could be fallout in Britain following the May 2 killing of the Al Qaeda chief by US commandos in Abbottabad.

A serving inspector who writes an internet blog made the claim, the media report said.

“We had to put up with a nonsense briefing from a Special Branch officer. We were warned of the dangers of a lack of vigilance.”

“Management responded by allocating a PCSO to keep an eye on the local takeaway. I kid you not,” the police official, believed to work in a county near London, was quoted as saying.
