Jamia Urdu Aligarh opens centre in Jammu

Jammu: Going ahead on its agenda for promotion of Urdu, Jamia Urdu Aligarh has opened its regional centre in Jammu. The establishment of the center is expected to be a milestone in the goal of promotion of the language in the Valley and to attract people to adopt Urdu language for seeking employment through it.

“Our aim is to promote Urdu in all parts of the state, which will help the learner to seek employment with the help of Urdu. This is part of the Jamia Urdu agenda to open regional centers in different parts of the country. ” said Prof Razaullah Khan, Chairman, Mushawarti Council of Jami Urdu.

Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Malik has been made convener of Jammu regional centre. The registration for current session (2011-2012) has been started in Jammu. “Students passing the test in various courses at this regional centre, would be allowed for the exams for the Moallim-e-Urdu” said Mr Khursheed Ahmad Malik, Director of Jammu Regional centre.

Jamia Urdu Board member, Jasim Mohammad expressed concern at the fact that Urdu has been attached with a particular community while the fact is that it is not the language of one community rather it is the language of India and it is the language which played great role in the freedom movement of the country.

Jamia Urdu Aligarh was established in 1939. It is a minority educational institution and the first distance mode educational institution in the country. It has branches not only in India but also abroad.
