New Delhi : Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal Norman Anil Kumar Browne led armed forces personnel in paying tributes to martyred soldiers at an old garrison church in Delhi Cantonment Sunday.
The Remembrance Day memorial service at the St. Martin’s Church is being held since 1958, but the practice itself dates back to the end of the first World War in 1918.
Also called the Poppy Day or Armistice Day in the Commonwealth countries, it is held to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
The Service of Remembrance, conducted by Rev. Ben Yoo at St. Martin’s Church, was attended by Strategic Forces Command chief Air Marshal K.J. Mathews and Navy officer Rear Admiral C.S. Patham. The officers also laid wreaths in memory of the soldiers.
