Egyptair resumes flights to Tripoli

By IANS/AKI,

Tripoli : Egyptair, the flag carrier airline of Egypt, has resumed flights between Cairo and Tripoli, the Libyan capital, after a seven-month interruption following political turmoil in the country.

There were 82 passengers aboard the first flight that connected the Egyptian and Libyan capitals Monday.

Egyptair expects to run 11 flights a week on the route, a report said.

The airline at the beginning of the month resumed flights to Benghazi, the second largest city in Libya after Tripoli, but waited for the completion of construction work at the Tripoli airport.

The airport had been damaged by fighting during the civil war that toppled Muammar Gaddafi’s government.
