Dubai : An Italian military aircraft that participated in an airshow here crashed into the sea off Dubai Friday morning, but no casualties were reported.
The accident occurred about seven miles from Deira Palm Island when the air force plane was returning home, the government said, adding that the crew successfully ejected to safety, Xinhua reported.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed the accident and said it could not disclose further details as the investigations fell under the UAE military’s purview.
Plane producer Alenia Aermacchi said that its representatives are co-operating closely with the local authorities, through the Italian embassy in the UAE, according to the local daily The National.
The Dubai Airshow from Nov 13-17 saw $63.3 billion worth of orders for aircraft, maintenance services and flight training programmes. It was held in collaboration with Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports and UAE armed forces.
