New Delhi : Over 100 experts and officials from the Asia-Pacific region will gather in India Nov 22-25 to devise coordinated efforts to combat illicit drug production and trafficking effectively, an official statement said Sunday.
The 35th annual meeting of heads of national drug law enforcement agencies of Asia Pacific region will be held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. India is hosting this meeting after a gap of almost 30 years.
This is the second such meeting being hosted by India. The previous meeting was held in New Delhi in 1983.
Finance Secretary R.S. Gujral will address the opening session of the meeting Nov 22, according to the finance ministry statement.
About 100 participants from member countries of Asia Pacific region, member or associate members of Economic and Social Commission of Asia and Pacific, United Nation member and government officials will attend the event.
The meeting is being hosted by the Central Bureau of Narcotics on behalf of India government in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
