Chandigarh : President Pratibha Patil will honour five armoured regiments of the Indian Army on Nov 27 by presenting them standards at Patiala in Punjab, a defence ministry official said Monday.
Patil, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, will present the colours to 5 Armoured Regiment, 6 Lancers, 70 Armoured Regiment, 73 Armoured Regiment and 74 Armoured Regiment, all operational under the 1 Armoured Division.
“This is only the second time in the history of independent India that five armoured regiments are getting standards on one day,” the official said.
The prresentation of standards is in recognition of a unit’s contribution to the security of the country and its achievements in battle over the years.
