New Delhi : The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day Thursday without transacting any business on the third consecutive day of the winter session due to protests over rising prices and the demand for a separate Telangana state.
The disruption in the afternoon — the third since morning — forced Deputy Speaker Karia Munda to call it a day even as Speaker Meira Kumar admitted a Left-backed adjournment motion on inflation under rule 193 that doesn’t entail voting.
MPs from the Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh gathered near the speaker’s podium shouting slogans for a separate state. They were supported by Congress MPs from the region who flashed placards in support of the demand.
