Islamabad : Pakistan conferred a top award on a Chinese general for promoting friendship between the two countries.
President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon General Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, at a special investiture ceremony held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
The citation said it was for the general’s “consistent and valuable contributions in promoting relations and understanding between the two countries and armies”.
General Hou Shusen along with his delegation had a meeting with the president and discussed matters relating to Pakistan-China bilateral relations and defence cooperation.
Zardari said China was a factor for stability in the region and added that the convergence of interests and unanimity of views on bilateral, regional and international issues had brought the two countries closer.
