Chandigarh : All 21 candidates contesting the Adampur assembly by-election have been issued notices by the state election commission in Haryana for discrepancies in expenditure accounts, a senior election officer said here Friday.
“Some discrepancies were found in their election expenditure accounts during inspection by the election expenditure observer on Nov 18 and Nov 23. All 21 candidates have been served notices and their replies to these are still awaited,” Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sumita Misra said.
The by-elections to the Adampur and Ratia assembly seats in Haryana are scheduled Nov 30.
Misra said all the candidates were strictly directed to keep their accounts of election expenses as per provisions prescribed.
The main fight for both seats is between the ruling Congress and opposition parties Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC).
