Agartala : Tripura Chief Minister and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Manik Sarkar Sunday urged party cadres to be “clean and fair” human beings to build up the Communist party.
“Without being good human beings and honest, Communist party leaders and workers can not be close to the common people,” Sarkar said at a party conference here.
He said: “Both the Communist party and its leaders and workers are quite different from the other parties. Our partymen’s behaviour with the common man should be like a human being, gentle and polite.”
The ruling CPI-M led Left Front is also preparing itself through a series of organisational and governmental programmes for the next crucial and politically significant assembly elections, likely 2013.
Sarkar, who heads the country’s lone Left Front government in Tripura, is also the only politician in the state who will complete a record 14 years as chief minister next March.
“The Communist party must be well-built with a strong support base among the cross section of people,” the CPI-M leader said, urging party workers to devote themselves in societal works including blood donation, afforestation, providing health care and literacy works.
The CPI-M politburo member appealed to the partymen to be generous, supportive and encouraging to those who join the Marxist party fold.
The ruling CPI-M with a massive rectification action has just completed conferences of party’s 222 local committees across the state and will start conferences of 19 divisional committees next month before holding the state conference in February next year.
