Lucknow : Chief Minister Mayawati Sunday made fun of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his trips to Uttar Pradesh showed that his party was scared of her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The Congress “is so scared that its ‘yuvraj’ has left parliament and indulging in various kinds of drama”, Mayawati thundered at a public rally here.
She accused the Congress of spreading “false information” about the state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh, which goes to the polls next year.
She also accused the central government of giving unfair treatment to Uttar Pradesh and said the Congress “had nothing for the state during the 40 years” it ruled the country’s most populous state.
The BSP leader’s comments followed the continous attack by Rahul Gandhi on the BSP government during his ongoing tour of Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati referred to the four-way division of Uttar Pradesh she has proposed, saying it had been done for the betterment of the people of the sprawling state.
But “all opposition parties will try to stop this resolution” from getting passed in parliament, she said.
“We have to teach these parties a lesson in the coming election,” she said, obviously referring to the Samajwadi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress.
