Lucknow: With the election battle hotting up, Chief Minister Mayawati held a big rally of Dalits at Lucknow on Sunday and targeted Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is all geared up to take on anyone at the election hustings.
“Rahul Gandhi is getting nightmares due to BSP’s popularity. He is doing all dramas to divert attention. Dalits are poor because of poor economic policies of Congress,” she said.
Reacting over the beggar remark of Rahul Gandhi, she stated that it was due to Congress that people are poor and jobless. “When they migrate, they are called beggars, which is an insult to them,” she said.
Over the much hyped NREGA scheme she stated that it has certain flaws. “It only provides employment for 100 days. People are jobless for remaining days of the year. If BSP comes to power we will provide jobs for round the year,” she said.
In her 70 minute speech, Mayawati targeted mainly Congress and its dynasty politics. “I also have brothers and other relatives. They are simply workers and not post holder in the party. If they develop political aspirations, I will severe ties with them,” she said.
With roughly estimated 2 lakh people at the rally ground, an elated BSP supremo Mayawati announced that another rally will be held on December 18, and that will be for Muslims and Thakurs.
The crowd remained loyal to her despite her non stop speech. Another feature was that the crowd was disciplined with no nuisance. It arrived in rows and left in queues.
The huge gathering at the rally could be an answer to her opponent parties who were busy in writing off the BSP from the scene.
