Six devotees from UP die before leaving for Haj pilgrimage

Lucknow: As the devotees continue to leave for Haj-2011 pilgrimage, six of them have lost their life leaving behind their lifetime wish of pilgrimage. State Haj Committee (SHC) has termed these deaths as natural deaths. In previous year Haj-2010, 48 devotees had died before leaving for pilgrimage in the state.

The list of the deceased include Farooqui Hussain, Shahjahanpur (Cover No-UPF 23661-3-0), Smt Hashmi Begum, Jalaun, (Cover No-UPF 24143-5-0), Faizul Rehman, Ballia (Cover No-UPF 31801-2-0), Mohd Aqeel, Barabanki (Cover No-UPF 20168-2-0), Mohd Sabir, Kanpur (Cover No-UPF 24320-2-0) and Sher Mohd, Raibareilly (Cover No-UPF 23950-3-0).

Till now, 24624 devotees have left from UP for Haj-2011. This includes 10443 from Lucknow embarkation, 3774 from Varanasi and 10407 from Delhi. On Thursday two flights took off from Amausi airport with 600 devotees on board. Minister for Science and Technology, Abdul Mannan also visited the Amausi airport to review the arrangements. From Varanasi embarkation, 253 devotees left while from Delhi 249 devotees left from Delhi.
