They had come out to support the ongoing campaign of Mahila Jagruti Manch for closure of wine shops in Jaipur.

Addressing the demonstrators at Narayan Singh Circle in Jaipur city, Rajasthan convenor of the women wing of Jamaat, Ishrat Hayat said: “We have come to extend our support to the women of Mahila Jagruti Manch who are demanding closure of liquor shops. Wine is prohibited in Islam. We do not want closure of such shops in only Jaipur but all shops in Rajasthan and we will continue our campaign till complete ban on liquor.”

Addressing the gathering, Er Mohammad Saleem, National Secretary of Jamaat, termed it as a tragedy that in a democratic country and in the regime of a Gandhian chief minister people’s demand and protest of six months have been ignored and wine shops are open. He said: “Jamaat has always demanded complete ban on wine in the state and we reiterate our demand. We will not agree on anything less than complete ban.”
