Bhubaneswar : Uma Ballav Rath, a former legislator from Orissa’s temple town Puri, Thursday resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying he wants to launch an apolitical campaign.

“He submitted his resignation citing that he wants to devote more time for a movement he has been spearheading,” Jual Oram, state unit chief of the BJP, told IANS.

Rath was a member of the state assembly from 1991 to 1995.
