Chennai : DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi Friday evening left for New Delhi to meet his jailed daughter Kanimozhi. He will also meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
“I am going to Delhi to meet Kanimozhi. I will also meet Sonia Gandhi,” Karunanidhi told reporters here.
Kanimozhi, charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as co-conspirator in the 2G spectrum scam, has been in Tihar Jail since May with the court denying her bail.
A special CBI court will pronounce its order on framing of charges in the 2G spectrum allocation scam Saturday.
The court will resume hearing on the bail applications of various accused in 2G spectrum allocations, including that of Kanimozhi, from Monday.
Reacting to the AIADMK’s landslide victory in the civic polls, Karunanidhi accused the state Election Commission of partiality and said a party ruling the state winning the local body polls is nothing new.
Referring to the expert committee constituted by the central government to solve the Kudankulam nuclear power plant imbroglio, the DMK leader said he would offer his suggestions to the central government.
