Gaddafi’s spy chief takes refuge in Niger

By IANS,

Niamey (Niger) : The intelligence chief of killed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has taken refuge in Niger on the southern border with Libya, Xinhua reported.

Bazoum Mohamed, Niger’s minister of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, told a radio service Saturday that Gaddafi’s intelligence chief Abdallah Senoussi was seen in the area bordering both Algeria and Libya.

“The Niger government would find nothing inconvenient to conform to international obligations, by handing him over to Interpol if ever he is apprehended on its territory,” he said.

An official of the army intelligence service admitted having learned the news from the minister, but declined to confirm or deny the information on Senoussi’s whereabouts.

Wanted by the International Criminal Court, Senoussi is among the 32 high-ranking members of Gaddafi’s regime allegedly taking refuge in Niger, including Gaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam.
