New Delhi: The Congress Friday attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for her “special kindness” as the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) 2010 report put the crime rate in the state as being the highest in the country.
The NCRB report was released Thursday.
“Roughly 33 percent of all crimes registered in the country are registered in UP,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.
“UP also tops the charts for violent crimes which has remained static mercifully at 11 percent,” he added.
Singhvi said UP has flourished in all the wrong areas because of the “special kindness of Mayawati’s administration and governmental apathy”.
“The CM has supported the wrong doings, so it has prospered in wrong doings… Nowhere is the bureaucracy so disheartened, demoralized, dejected as in UP,” said Singhvi.
He alleged that “blue-eyed favourites” of the chief minister galloped to the top while seniority and integrity became two of the biggest disqualification with the state government.
