New Delhi : The issue of alleged irregularities in the Commonwealth Games rocked the Delhi assembly Thursday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members shouted slogans forcing Speaker Yoganand Shastri to expel them from the house for the next three days.
The BJP members were marshalled out when they started shouting anti-government slogans and stormed into the well of the house Thursday, the third consecutive day of the monsoon session.
The day’s proceedings got off to a stormy start with the opposition members, under the leadership of V.K. Malhotra, blowing the conch shells inside the house. The speaker had to adjourn the sitting for some time.
When the house was called again, the members started shouting slogans again, following which the speaker had to expel them from the house.
“The BJP members have flouted rules of this house by shouting slogans and disrupting the proceedings of the house. They are expelled from the house for the next three days,” said Shastri.
