Kolkata : United Sikkim Football Club (USFC) pipped ONGC 3-2 to kick-off their campaign on a bright note in the Federation Cup here Friday.
Daniel Bidemi, Sushil Singh and Babatunde struck for the winners while ONGC scored through Jagdish Modi and Naresh in the preliminary stage match at the Mohun Bagan ground.
The Sikkim club, owned by Bhaichung Bhutia, found their mark in the very third minute through Daniel.
But much against the run of play, ONGC restored parity in the 17th minute with Jagdish Modi volleying home by latching on to a loose ball.
However, the joy in the ONGC camp was shortlived as USFC regained the lead within three minutes.
A counter-attack saw Sushil Kumar headed into the cross-piece but Babatunde made no mistake in tapping in the rebound.
Changing over, Sushil made it 3-1 for USFC.
ONGC went all out and Naresh converted from the spot in the 90th minute. The penalty was awarded after Kenistan was brought down inside the box.
