Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has opposed the Prevention Of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Regulations) Bill 2011 and termed it as against federal structure which will increase discrimination in society.
While speaking at the meeting of the National Integration Council (NIC) in Delhi on Saturday, Chouhan said that the draft of the Bill, is such that Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Home Ministers will come under the category of minority on linguistic basis.

Objecting to the provisions of the Bill, Chouhan said that this bill, if turned into a law, will lead to religious and caste-related intolerance among various sections. On the one hand, mistrust has been shown in this Bill on government machinery and on the other hand, the crimes classified as planned communal violence are unclear. There is no scope for such mistrust in a democratic system, he added.
Chauhan also said that this type of law will prevent public servants from complying with government works independently. The meeting of the NIC was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
