Cartridges recovered from Uttar Pradesh’s bus stand

By IANS,

Lucknow : As many as 690 cartridges and a pistol were recovered from an abandoned bag at a bus stand in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, police said Thursday.

The cartridges of .315 bore and the .32 bore pistol were recovered during a security check Wednesday night at the Bhasuali bus stand. Both the cartridges and the pistol were illegally made, police said.

“We have learnt that a 25-year-old youth, dressed in kurta pyjama, was seen moving with the bag near the bus stand,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikas Tripathi told reporters in Meerut, 450 km from Lucknow.

“We have planned to release a sketch of the youth based on eyewitness accounts,” he added.

Police sources said preliminary investigations indicate the cartridges were illegally manufactured in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad city and were to be supplied to criminal gangs in western Uttar Pradesh.
