Islamabad : Ten militants and five securitymen were killed Sunday during a clash at a checkpost in northwest Pakistan, Xinhua reported.
Fighting erupted when militants attacked the checkpost in the Bara area of Khyber Agency, close to the Afghan border. After this, hundreds of local tribesmen launched a counter-attack, according to the local Urdu channel Geo TV.
One soldier and four paramilitary personnel, who were manning the post, and 10 militants were killed in the clash. Some militants fled the scene after the raid.
The injured tribesmen were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
Security has been reinforced in the area and a search launched to nab the militants.
