New Delhi: With tearful eyes on Tuesday morning, the residents of Gopalgarh in Bharatpur district bid adieu to their beloved ones who were killed in the police firing during the communal clash on 14th Sept 2011 in the Rajasthan district. Thousands of people from different parts of the state and outside had joined the funeral procession of the five Meo Muslims.
The Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) was performed at 11:30 am at Andhwadi village and all the five were buried at one place near a hill outside the village. Maulana Mohammad Hanif led the prayer. Before the prayer, Maulana Hanif addressed the gathering in which he urged people to stand united to fight against the cruelty done to them but under the law of the country. “We will not adopt violent way to fight against violent people rather we will bring them to the law of court” he said.
A total 10 Meo Muslims were killed in the firing and clashes. Funeral rights of five were performed earlier but families of five others had refused to bury them before any strong action against the culprits. The families were not receiving the dead bodies from the authorities demanding justice. They received the bodies on September 26. Five people are still missing while many injured are under treatment at the hospital.
Those who were buried on Tuesday (27th Sep) were:
Maulana Khurshid (28) son of Hajir Khan. He was burnt alive. His body was not in the condition to be recognized.
Mohammad Javed (24) son of Sardar Khan. He got 3 bullets.
Abdur Rahman (65) son of Hasina. He was attacked by sharp weapons.
Hafiz Shabbir (35) son of Chander Khan. He was attacked with sharp weapon and then was set afire.
Isa Khan (35) son of Rahmat. He also got bullets and then was burnt alive.
