Islamabad : Pakistan as a nation is united and faces no threat, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said Wednesday.
“We will not hesitate in rendering sacrifices of any kind for the security of the country. The nation is united and is facing no threat. All parties will have to get united beyond their political affiliations for the sake of national security,” Online news agency quoted Gilani as telling lawyers at the Peshawar High Court.
The prime minister said the role played by lawyers, political workers and the civil society in 2008 for the restoration of the constitution and democracy in the country was very vital.
Peshawar police, meanwhile, seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition prior to the arrival of the prime minister in the city.
A car full of sophisticated weapons was intercepted very close to the Peshawar International Airport, police said. The driver was arrested and taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
