Chandigarh : Haryana’s wildlife will be counted in May and June in order to conserve it, an official said here Sunday.
“While intensifying its campaign to conserve wildlife, the Haryana government would, for the first time, commence counting of wildlife during the months of May and June,” an official spokesman said.
He said that during the counting operation, special emphasis would be laid on deer, Nilgai (Blue Bull Antelope), monkeys, peafowl, leopards and various other animals. He added that after the completion of the counting, more effective measures would be taken by the state government to conserve wild life.
He said that Haryana has a large number of deer and special steps are being taken to protect them.
