Patna: Sixty five years have passed since India became a free nation, but peace and justice that freedom fighters had dreamed of still elude the second majority community of the country, said Maulana Anisur Rahman Qasmi, secretary, Imarat Shariah, Bihar, Jharkhand & Orissa. Maulana Qasmi was speaking to TCN after hoisting of the national flag today at the premises of the Imarat in Phulwari Shareef area of Patna.
“It is true that 65 years have passed since the independence but the fruits of freedom like justice, peace and rights of citizens are still eluding Muslims. We see that the second majority community of India, i.e. Muslims is deprived of their rights today. We recently saw in Assam how Muslims were displaced and police remained mute spectator. Rather than protecting them in their villages, police took Muslims to relief camps,” said Maulana Qasmi.

On if the dream of freedom fighters has come true in free India, the maulana said: The largest minority community of the country is still deprived of peace and justice. The freedom fighters had dreamt of peace and justice in free India. Their dream has not yet been fulfilled.
