Filipinos explore business with Rajasthan stone industry

Jaipur: A business delegation from the Philippines visited the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), exploring tie-ups with the state’s stone and ceramics industry.

The 28-member delegation, led by Randolph S. Ting, Congressman of the third district of Cagayan, held talks Friday to foster cooperation in sectors such as dimensional stone, bricks and potteries, handmade paper industry, diary, cane and bamboo.

RIICO Managing Director Rajendra Bhanawat briefed the delegation about the stone industry and the various materials available in the state, and invited the delegation to participate in “Stonemart”, a biennial trade fair in the Rajasthan capital.

Facilitated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization – International Centre for Advancement of Manufacturing Technology (UNIDO-ICAMT), the delegation also visited the Centre for Development of Stones (CDOS) in the Pink City.

Deepak Ballani, national programme officer of UNIDO-ICAMT, assured the delegation support in transfer of technology and best practices from India to Philippines in selected sectors.

He said another Filipino delegation headed by a vice-minister would visit from Sep 8-15 during which concrete areas of cooperation would be finalised.
