Agra inner ring road project to be restarted

By IANS,

Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government Wednesday announced that decks have been cleared to restart the bidding for the 30-km inner ring road project in the Taj city Agra.

After a detailed presentation, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav directed the departments concerned, including the infrastructure and housing department, to extend all possible help in the project.

It was also decided that the ring road would not be elevated.

Bids would soon be invited from developers and work on the project would start soon, an official told IANS.

Earlier, an agreement was signed between the Agra Development Authority (ADA) and Jaypee Group in Feb 2010 to develop the ambitious project on a private-public-partnership (PPP) mode.

However, it ran into rough weather and the contract was cancelled later.

The government has now decided to invite fresh bidding for the project and the ADA has been made the nodal agency for it.
