New Delhi : Four people, three Nepali nationals and an Indian, have been arrested in the capital for sending women from Nepal to Gulf countries on fake passports and documents, police said Wednesday.

Nabin Kumar Subedi (35), Ashiq Ali Miya (24) and Uttam Silwal (32), all from Nepal, and Bipin Dahal (32), a resident of Assam, were apprehended on a tip-off from central intelligence agencies, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav said.

During interrogation, the arrested men disclosed that the gang was headed by Saudi Arabia-based mastermind Ram Bahadur Bist.

“They used to fake stamps of the Department of Foreign Employment of Nepal for sending the women and charged minimum Rs.20,000 per customer, while Bist charged hefty sums from the employers in Saudi Arabia,” said Yadav.

“Nepal has banned the immigration of women to Saudi Arabia. Therefore, the gang started using the India route,” he added.

Subedi operated from Delhi.

“Miya used to lure the women on the pretext of arranging jobs with good salaries in Gulf countries. Dahal arranged air tickets for them, while Silwal took care of the clients caught by the immigration authorities in Delhi,” Yadav said.
